Rambling Just A Bit Today

Back in the early 60s my hubby went to Haiti on a ship with other Marines and Sailors. He described the condition of that country and felt so sad for those people. Poverty beyond description to most of us. No sanitation. Bathroom duties were done right there in the street, women squatted and men stood and did what they needed to do. He said it was filth beyond anything he'd ever seen. Personally, I think it's very sad.

Recently I've come across a few blogs from surfing from other blogs. The blog posts were pretty old but in perusing them further I noticed that some had abandoned the blog altogether and some had deleted their blogs—or so they thought. Let me state here and now that a blog is never deleted from the web. Once it's published, it's published forever! I'd go to the new blog site, which sometimes they'd give a new name and start over, but the old one was still there. So be careful. This particular blogger thought her old blog sounded too "down" and wanted to start all over with a less depressing blog. Well, she got a new blog but the old one was still there for all to see. I can't say it enough: Once you hit the word "Publish", it's a done deal and there forever. So be very careful what you say on a blog. You can't take it back.

Smile as though you make them wonder why you're smiling. I do. It will always bring a smile back to you.

A beautiful passageway in a European country.

A lovely English road with the homes right on the edge of the road. Quaint.

Isn't this evening purse gorgeous with its white embroidered fabric?

A blue room like this is something I could live with if I didn't like pink so much. This is beautiful.

This entry is stunning and I'd love to have it. But that chest is gorgeous!

Very bright and lovely kitchen area. Looks almost like a restaurant.

Another narrow, windy, steep road in Europe somewhere.

More thatched cottages.

Pink antique kitchen table.

Cute bathroom.

Beautiful sun room/dining room near the water.

Beautiful pillows stacked on a lovely chair.

A pretty vignette with fans and roses and ephemera.

Cute little embroidered wall hanging for a kitchen.

Looks to me like an old English country bedroom. That chair looks very substantial.

Tidbits:
A Danish company has given its employees free subscriptions to internet p**n sites, but what would you expect from a country that now euthanizes its citizens. Sad and horrific in my opinion.

My Answer To Hubby's Questions

Even though my hubby is wonderful, there are a few things that irritate me to no end. One of them is this: When he's away from home during the day, sometimes teaching a class and sometimes volunteering for something, he'll call me when he's on his way home. He's very good about keeping in contact so when he occasionally forgets, I get worried, but that's not common. Anyway, it's gotten to the point of this discussion verbatim.

He: I'm on my way home.
Me: Good. Drive carefully.
He: What's for dinner? (Can you hear my teeth grinding here now?)
Me: Not sure. But be prepared to travel. (Dine out, get it?)

Another thing is when we eat out he never, ever leaves enough food on his plate to bring home. For me, most dinners out at a restaurant are at least two dinners, not for th' hubs. He eats it all. Incomprehensible to me how someone can eat all that food on the plate.

Another thing is dessert. Usually I don't order dessert, but when I do, I don't share. I tell this to hubs beforehand. Invariably, he'll try to take a bite of my Black Tie Mousse Cake at Olive Garden. The last time he tried that I snatched it away so fast it almost flew over my shoulder into the wall! I said I don't share dessert. Of course, there have been times when we're trying to lost a bit of weight that we order dessert and eat it together but the waitress cuts it in half for us so there's no fight. (This one waitress at Olive Garden knows us well. ;-) ) When I'm as hungry as a painted cannibal coming off a fast, you do NOT want to mess with my food.

He graciously helps me make our bed now that he's retired. I never really asked him to do it but with the things I've gone through this past year he just does it or helps me. So, here's the conversation:
Me: Make sure you have enough blanket on your side.
He: I do.
Me: I think the quilted bedspread needs to come over to my side a bit. Get the 3rd ruffle even with the edge.
He: No, it's perfect.
Me: I'll tell you when it's perfect. ;-)

I think I'd better stop while I'm ahead here on this discussion. ;-)

I was on the treadmill the other day and had the radio on out in the garage while walking. I couldn't believe it but I heard a commercial for borrowing money. It was pretty much the ones you hear with low or no interest if repaid by a certain time. It had a few more creative things, which I can't remember now. But when it gave out the name and phone number, I was stunned. It was an Indian Casino! Since Indian reservations are sovereign nations they don't pay taxes and can do pretty much what they want, but that was a new one for me.

If you are ever in London, this is the place you want to visit for yummy cakes.

Clever idea using vintage wallpaper.

Beautiful vignette using perfume bottles.

I used this photo to do one of my own. I had all the basics and didn't have to buy a thing. I love mine! You can do this also.

A gorgeous living room. Love just about everything about it. I'd put in pink of course.

Stunning winter display.

Vintage tins.

A magnetic tray.

Old doors set up in a garden. Lovin' it!

Pretty office in an old loft.

Beautiful ranunculaceous.

Pretty pink clock.

I fashioned the chandelier in my dining room after this one. A few differences but I couldn't find the chandelier shades like this one has. Had to adjust my thinking!

Darling, darling home office out of a closet.

Love these old trailers but don't want one or Love Bunny would insist I go camping and we all know how I feel about camping!

Rambling Today

Several weeks ago we went to Boise shopping and stopped in at The Cheesecake Factory. It had been a very long time since we'd eaten there but I wanted cheesecake desperately.
I had the half chicken salad sandwich with salad but they also brought me a cup of soup. This was much more than I anticipated! I told him to bring me a box immediately as I would never be able to eat all of it. I didn't even touch the soup, ate half of the sandwich and salad and brought the rest home. We both told them to add in 2 pieces of cheesecake to take home also. I refuse to share my slice of cheesecake with anyone.  That lunch was $45 and a bit more than we thought it would be but very good. But it was also more than most people could possibly eat unless they were hogs! I'm not. It was truly fantastic.

At the rate of weddings in Hollywood, the career to have is wedding planner. You'd never ever want for a job! I simply cannot believe the turnaround in husbands and wives in that city. Surely with all their offspring, every single person there is related to at least 99% of the others. It would be ugly trying to fill out your lineage chart down there. Sheesh...

Awhile back I heard someone say that something was totally impractical for their lifestyle—can't remember what it was—but it was desirable to have. I told her to change her lifestyle then. It's that simple and if I recall it was something good. Why can't someone change their lifestyle? We certainly did and it's brought blessings more than we can count to our lives.

I've also noticed that some people are a bit lean on their answers. Wonder what that's about or what they don't want to say.

This looks like a little girl's kitchen for play but it is indeed a woman's cute kitchen dining area.

A fabulous cabin.

Pretty chair in a field of lavender.

A very pretty white living room with roses prints all around.

Sweet hearts to enjoy.

Cute open shelving but I really like the cans on the shelf.

Someone's sweet vignette.

A luxuriously long porch with vivid flowers all over.

Pretty rose fabric juxtaposed against an old door.

I like this adorable sofa but I'd put it in a family room.

The kitchen of a very serious cook! I don't have near those pots and pans and I manage. The drawback is I have to cook, which we all KNOW I hate!

Interesting way to display pretty teacups.

Pretty little office area. I like the green and pink together also.

Cute redecorated can.

Lovely embroidery.
